  • Hmm. This is pretty interesting. I'm doing my test drive of Google Chrome right. So far, it seems pretty darn fast and isn't taxing my system.
  • Yeah, it's quick isn't it!
  • Yes...its QUICK...!
But...even though it´s according to these information using little memory...somehow with CHROM running my memory usage climbs up. I tried to find the reason and could not find the source...
    User Interface: GREAT!
  • Remember that this is just on first boot, and doesn't simulate browsing at all.

Flash takes up a huge amount of memory, as does Adobe Acrobat - both use about 3 times as much as Chrome it seems, so they might be the culprits.
  • Would someone tell me why there are two or three processes for Chrome running on my PC? But over all it is fast, well with a GB of RAM it is bound to be fast :-)
  • That's how it's designed, each tab and plugin gets it's own process. That way, if one crashes it won't crash the whole browser.

  • Your test doesn't make any sense, my firefox is using only 34mb. I did the same thing as you, but I don't have opera and safari installed atm.

    IE 7.00.6000.16705 22,084k
    Chromium 0.2.152.1 26,350k
    Firefox 3.0.1 34,868k

You MUST consider things like addons, history, etc. Maybe even how big your favorites list is.

Yes, Google Chrome is a lot faster than Firefox. Yes, Google Chrome offers some nice features. Nevertheless it's still in beta (like Gmail has been for too long time imo) and it's an very early stage of public development to say "hey, it is faster!!" or "it uses less memory than that other browser".
  • Just did the same thing with Firefox 3.1a2 and it also uses only 30mb
  • I liked the browser so much so that I wanted to write a post in my language about it… searched the net and found your, which I translated and it’s there for my people to know about this great browser.
  • Eminently an expound fact and,due to precision,an equitable experiment indeed and undoubtedly.A nirvana.
  • Thanks for sharing . really Google is good info. Best regards.
  • i love google, thanks for review and good article :)
